Dodge D350 Custom Welding Truck: Built by Jesse James, Protected by LINE-X
When big names in the aftermarket automotive industry like LINE-X and Jesse James come together for a vehicle build, you know you’re in for something special. Fans of Dodge custom diesel trucks are never disappointed with any Jesse James creation. When LINE-X asked Jesse to put together a custom welding flatbed, he didn’t balk at the challenge.
Having debuted at the 2018 SEMA Show, Jesse James’ custom-built 1993 Dodge D350 flatbed welding truck features a LINE-X spray-on automotive coating and Truck Gear by LINE-X accessories to help celebrate our historic 25th anniversary. With a build as rich in hallmarks as the LINE-X lineage, the custom-built Dodge by the “Pope of Welding” represents our brand's beginnings 25 years ago. “I built this cool truck for LINE-X. It’s the 25th anniversary of LINE-X, and they asked if I would build a 1993 Dodge D530 RAM. I was like, ‘Hell yeah!’” Jesse said.
The Hardest Part? Finding a Dodge D350
His search for a ’93 D350 certainly wasn’t the easiest. According to Jesse, the truck had to meet a checklist in order for the build to begin. “I knew if I was going to do a '93, it obviously had to be a 12-valve Cummins engine, an extended cab, a dually, and have a manual shifter,” Jesse said.
After searching all around the nation, Jesse only found iterations that were in rough shape. Finally, he struck diesel gold and found a prime candidate in Georgia. Once he acquired the new-to-him Dodge D350, the build was on. Jesse partnered with LINE-X and Texas Hot Rides and set out with two goals in mind for the build:
- First, create a custom Dodge truck that was different from anything else, combining tradition and cutting-edge technology.
- Second, showcase the expanding catalog of Truck Gear by LINE-X parts and accessories.

The Finishing Touches
Continuing the LINE-X theme, Jesse featured a Truck Gear by LINE-X 75qt (70.9 liters) Expedition Cooler on the build. The Expedition Cooler is roto-molded and features a durable construction as tough as the LINE-X brand. Recently, the 20qt edition of the Expedition Cooler underwent bear-resistant product testing and was certified by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee as a bear-resistant product.
